Monica Parade! To celebrate Monica’s 50th anniversary, Sao Paulo gets a urban intervention which exhibits 50 sculptures of the character through the city

Mauricio de Sousa, creator of the character Monica,  who will also be part of this art intervention, has chosen the visual artist Lobo and other 48 more artists to join the party.

The exhibition follows the same concept of the “Cow Parade” and it shows the artwork of artists chosen by Mauricio de Sousa in 50 places in town, as parks, tourist spots and iconic architecture.

Among parks that will receive the pieces of art at Monica Parade are Parque do Ibirapuera, Parque Alfredo Volpi, Parque Trianon and Parque da Independencia.

Made of fiberglass, all Monicas are 160 centimeters height over a 25 centimeters base, becoming a 185 centimeters height structure.

They can also be seen on the website www.monicaparade.com.br since November, 8th. The website will gather information, photos, information about the artists and a making off of the pieces being made.

All the sculptures will be auctioned, and the income, reverted to Unicef, of which Monica has been ambassador since 2007.
