Recyclable material is the future!

Fifteen 190 centimeters height and one-meter diameter cans will be set up all over the city of Sao Paulo. Reciclalata wants to call the attention to the eco-friendly cause: the importance of recycling aluminium cans.

The big cans will be painted by Lobo and other 14 more artists, due to the 25th year anniversary of the aluminium can in Brazil, and other 50 worldwide. The project was idealized by Top Trends and it is sponsored by Novelis and the Ministry of Culture.

The exhibition takes place first on the Streets of Sao Paulo city and D&D Shopping Mall. After that, the big cans will be taken to Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro. In each city, a new can will be incorporated to the collection.

“A lot is being said about recycling nowadays, but a few people really do something for the preservation of the environment. As soon as I was invited by Top Trends to be part of the project, I wanted to meet the collective and its members. They´re very simple, almost never noticed, but they´re the ones who really make a difference.” Says Lobo.

The Novelis

Novelis was founded in January 2005, result of the break-up of an aluminium laminated company called Alcan Aluminium from Brazil.

Its story in the country dates back to 1940, when Alubrasil was founded, which resulted in Alcan, company that has heritage not only the aluminium tradition but also some of the social projects they support up to the present.

World leader in laminated aluminium by income, production volume and market share, Novelis keeps its headquarters in Atlanta (USA) and 36 other operating facilities in 11 countries in Asia, Europe, North America and South America.

Besides working the newly commissioned pieces, Lobo’s pop sensibility lent itself to many collaborations with globally recognized brands such as:

Heineken20th Century Fox, Procter & GambleRoche, Rolling Stone Magazine, among others.
