Artist Lobo at CowParade Brazil 2017 in Sao Paulo
Considered the largest and most successful contemporary street art exhibitions in the world, CowParade Brazil celebrates 10 years
In celebration of the 10th edition, the artists will be invited to portray and honor one of the 45 cities where CowParade has already taken place. Inspired by the theme “a trip around the world”, the event hopes to attract artists who can express all their talent and creativity in a life-size fiberglass cow sculpture.
Cowparade sculptures will be decorated by local artists and distributed by the capital of Sao Paulo
Sponsored by Smiles, largest multi-loyalty programs in Brazil, with more than 12 million participants, with 14 of the best airlines in the world flying to 160 countries, the 10th CowParade Brasil hopes to repeat the success of the last Sao Paulo edition in 2010, which was attended by dozens of artists.
Pop Artist Lobo was inspired by the colors, lights and some Las Vegas postcards, such as Elvis Presley, Flamingo Hotel, Golden Nugget, Luxor Hotel, among others.
The company responsible for the production of CowParade was Top Trends, a company specializing in street art, such as Cowparade, Rino Mania, Call Parade, etc.
Why cows?
There’s something magical about the cow. It represents different things to different: it is sacred, it is historical, but the common feeling is caring.
Cowparade, makes everyone smile.
The CowParade cow sculpture forms a tri-dimensional canvas that pleases all artists and there is no other animal or object that provides a shape with the same flexibility and breadth
The three kitty poses (standing, grazing, resting) offer artists angles and curves to create unique works of art.
At the Cowparade, more than 10,000 artists have participated and it is estimated that more than 500 million people have seen one of the sculptures
In total, more than $ 35 million has been raised for charities through the auction of the Cowparade.
The CowParade came about in 1998 when Swiss artist Pascal Knapp created several cow-shaped sculptures with the intention of provoking laughter
In 2000, the rights to Knapp’s sculptures were bought by American Jerry Elbaum who founded CowParade Holding Inc. Since then more than 5,000 cow sculptures have been created on all continents.
In Brazil, the event was conceived by Toptrends, a Brazilian company created in 2004, with the mission of democratizing art and culture through special projects

'It's important for Smiles to sponsor culture and entertainment. The growth of urban art throughout the world, besides being a way for artists to express themselves, offers the population a closer contact with the city, as it is an event for the whole family. In addition, CowParade's theme of traveling around the world is in line with Smiles 'strategy, which flies to all destinations where the show has gone'
